Amalia, Cascina in Langa, situated on the hills of Monforte d’Alba, is the ideal starting point for a journey of discovery of the tastes of Langhe. Beginning in 2003 the Boffa family – Luigi Antonio with his wife, Maria Angela Brosio, and son, Paolo – bought the business, renovated the farmstead and revolutionised the use of space by building a new building designed as a winery.
The original farmstead, built in the early 1920’s has become a hospitable Bed & Breakfast with just six bedrooms, fitted with furniture from the early 1900’s and equipped with every comfort. The constantly lit fireplace, the welcoming lounge and a trolley of cakes and homemade jams and marmalades with products from zero kilometres, as well cheeses and cold meats typical of the area complete the atmosphere of relaxation and calm within.
The care and passion with which Maria Angela Brosio welcomes guests to her “home” is identical to that which her son Paolo puts into wine-making, with the advice of the oenologist Gian Franco Cordero and the agronomist Gian Piero Romana. Limited yields, maximum care in the cultivation of the vines and meticulous work in the winery are the ingredients which give rise wines with important organoleptic qualities and aging potential, above all Barolo.
