In Langhe, you just have to look around you to discover beauty. The town of Monforte d’Alba is perched on the hill on which the church and the noble palace of the Scarampi tower. It was, in the bloody medieval, the stage of the first Italian heretics, the Cathars. Today it is a sacred resort for cultivators of taste who, from here, can discover the tastes of Langhe, surrounded by the vineyards in which Barolo is born.
Another few minutes and we are in Alba, the capital of the Langhe, with its high class shops and haute cuisine restaurants.
You only need an itinerary of a few hills to admire and visit one after another of the castles of Grinzane Cavour, Serralunga, Barolo and Castiglione Falletto. Furthermore, within a radius of a few delightful kilometres immersed in the landscape of Langhe we find Pollenzo with its neogothic quarter and the University of Grastronomical Science, Cherasco with its art and antique exhibitions and Santo Stefano Belbo with the sweetness of its Moscato and the poems of Cersare Pavese. A few hills to the south and we are in the wilder landscape of High Langhe, immortalized by Beppe Fenoglio, with its woods and its rugged decisive hills: Bossolasco; San Benedetto Belbo; Murazzano, Mombarcaro. Here the hazelnuts alternate with the extremely tasty robiole cheese.
